Getting to Antiparos
Antiparos is connected to Athens and other destinations via big sister Paros. Airport transfer from Paros Airport (PAS) to our boutique property on Antiparos on our day of arrival is included, so no need to worry.
Paros is connected to Athens in two ways:
By air:
We recommend getting to the retreat by flying into Paros airport. It is efficient, comfortable and not affected by weather and wind, which can sometimes cause delays or cancellations. Direct flights from Athens take less than 30' and are currently run by two airlines, Aegean Airlines and SkyExpress. There are also scheduled flights from Thessaloniki.
By ferry:
If you love traveling by sea, ferry services connect the main port of Paros (Paroikia) with Athens year-round. It is also easy to reach other Aegean islands from Paros by ferry (e.g. Mykonos, Santorini, Naxos, Patmos, Sifnos). You can connect to Paros from Piraeus (Athens' main port) or from the port of Rafina. If you choose this way, I recommend “Ferryhopper” for booking and tracking ferries.
Weather
October offers the perfect combination of dry conditions and comfortable temperatures on Antiparos. Daytime temperatures average around 23°C (73°F) and don’t generally drop lower than 18°C (64°F). Water temperatures also remain above 20°C (68°F) well into October.
Packing list
We will send you a detailed packing list at least 30 days before your departure date. At that point, we will also ask for proof of travel insurance, which is required for participating in our retreats. And you can always ask me any questions in the meantime in the 30 min free travel consultation.
The 30-min Discovery Call
I’d love to meet you and discuss your writing goals and creative challenges. We can discuss travel logistics and retreat experience, and find you the best accommodation option from our selection of rooms and private houses. Feel free to email me at janettanastasia@gmail.com if the listed times don't work, or if you prefer to communicate via email.
Explorations of culture
October does not just offer the perfect gentle weather but also a slowed-down tourism schedule that allows us to have a pick among the best creators, artists and hospitality providers on the island for private sessions that introduce us to local culture. These are private sessions arranged at extra cost and we will ask for advance confirmation to arrange them.
Antiparos Grape Harvest
Dating back a century ago, Antiparos was known for producing black wine of excellent quality on 1,200 acres of land. These days, only 200 acres of active vineyeards remain, now safeguarded as Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Paros - making Antiparos viniculture a true cultural legacy and labor of love for its owners and cultivators. Our favorite fine dining restaurant has offered to curate a special selection of local wines for us to taste in honor of harvest season.
Ceramics workshop
Volto Antiparos is one of our favorite Antiparos gems - a concept store focused on ceramics and local art that also houses a beautiful collection of books from Greek publishers. They are able to join for us for a private introduction and masterclass tto pottery making should there be interest. Whether your taste is in classic simplicity or in elevating old crafts with contemporary design, you get to try your hand at this traditional element of Greek craftsmanship.
If you’re passing through Athens, ask me to share my little list of ceramics studios with you!
If you have any special requests, please let us know and we may be able to arrange for it.
